Providing World Class Training Facilities for the Australian Defence Force
The Canberra Class Amphibious Assault Ship (LHD) will provide the Australian Defence Force with one of the most capable and sophisticated air-land-sea amphibious deployment systems in the world. Our project entailed construction of a training facility for the LHD including a simulation landing dock within Sydney Harbour. Involving marine works and office construction, it required daily coordination with the Department to synchronise works within a live Defence base. Ensuring no adverse environmental impacts, stringent ecological considerations during the marine construction where obligatory. With constant water sampling conducted, no environmental incidents where recorded. Providing administrative, training and storage facilities, the scope of works entailed demolition of existing office premises, lining and painting of internal works, provision of lighting, joinery and finishing works including office furnishing. Specialist coordination was required for the installation and commissioning of Defence Restrictive Communication Network. Our construction provides the Australian Defence Department with facilities to house world-class capabilities.
