QLD ATO BUILDINGS TAKING PSG HOLDINGS CLEANING DIVISION TO NEW HEIGHTS
The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is the principal revenue collection agency of the Australian Government. Its role is to manage the tax and superannuation systems that support and fund services for Australia. The ATO’s Reconciliation Action Plan notes that one of its goals is to “support and mentor businesses owned by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, providing more opportunity to be included in ATO’s supply chain”. As a concrete demonstration of this commitment, the ATO engaged PSG Holdings, under the Indigenous Business Exemption to the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, to carry out fully daily cleaning of its four Queensland office sites.
The ATO Queensland offices, which comprise three sites in Brisbane and one in Townsville, cover approximately 60,000sqm of office space in a number of high rise buildings. PSG Holdings commenced the contract in November 2015, and we have received uniformly positive feedback on our performance. We have achieved around 26% Indigenous employment across the project, and over 60% Indigenous employment on the Townsville site. Most of our new Indigenous employees were previously unemployed, so this opportunity has made a major difference in their lives.
For PSG Holdings, cleaning multi-level high rise buildings is another step forward on our journey, and a sign of our maturing capability.
